Hi, I am Stephanie and this is my eighth year of teaching elementary art. I love what I do and realize I am very blessed to work creatively with children. If I were to win the lottery and could do anything I wanted for the rest of my life, I would still teach art. :) In my classroom students are able to play, explore, invent, and imagine. There is nothing more fun than witnessing all of that! I am a huge fan of projects that include paint because it gives my younger students the ability of expressiveness, it is a great sensory exploration, and it is a medium children are less likely to be able to participate in outside of the art room. Because we use paint so much in my class, there is not a day that goes by that I don't have multicolored fingers. And more often than not, the paint is also on my face...
Beyond being an art teacher, I am also a mother of three girls. My seven year old and four year old are both very crafty. It won't be long until the baby will be joining them at their art station at home! I hope that they all continue to share my love of art as they grow up. I will be posting some of their toddler and preschool art ideas to this blog, as well.
So the purpose of this blog is to share ideas that have worked well for me and my classes. Lately I have become a fan of many art educator blogs. In order to really become part of this online community, I have decided it's time for me to document and share the happenings in my own classroom. Please contact me with any questions, comments, or suggestions!
